The Mongolian Education Alliance (Mongolia)

by

The Mongolian Education Alliance (MEA) is an independent, non-government organization that was established in August 2004 as the spin-off and successor of the education programs implemented by the Soros Foundation in Mongolia.

Vision
To be a recognized learning organization that serves teachers and schools in promoting democratic values among the young generation.

Mission
Mongolian Education Alliance exists to sustain and expand the network of local and international partners that contribute to open society values in the Mongolian education sector, identify underserved areas of educational reform and initiative, new projects that enhance equal access to education, transparency, and accountability towards the civil society, and serve as a human resource center for organizations who seek local partners for implementing projects that are in line with democratic values.

Building on our previous experience and expertise, for the past several years, we have been achieving a concerted effort in order to become a well-known organization with its own identity and reputation. MEA is contributing to the development of the education sector through implementing programs, projects, and providing consultancy services. For example, there is an “open school” program that provides professional support to schools and teachers. The Step by Step program supports early childhood development, whereas the Debate and Speech education program focuses on youth and adolescence development. MEA activities also focus on inclusive education, educational research, monitoring, and evaluation. Through this, the organization has raised and spent over six billion Mongolian tugrik for the nation’s education sector.
